Removalists in Burdell
Burdell has the highest share of serving Australian Defence Force members of the Townsville suburbs we checked: 10.9% of residents aged 15 and over in 2021. If Defence is relocating you, check what it arranges before booking a private removalist, and use one for local moves or extra items outside that.
A suburb with many Defence households
Burdell is about 13 km west of Townsville City. In the 2021 Census, 10.9% of residents aged 15 and over (567 people) were currently serving in the Australian Defence Force, the highest share of the Townsville suburbs we checked and about three times the City of Townsville figure of 3.5%.
Housing is almost all detached: 97.2% of occupied dwellings were separate houses. 45.7% of homes were rented, higher than the city figure of 36.6%.
If you are posted to or from Townsville
If Defence is relocating you, find out what Defence arranges and pays for before you book anything yourself. A private removalist is useful for the parts of a move that fall outside that, such as:
- moving between two Townsville addresses during a posting
- extra items or a second vehicle
- a partner or family member moving on different dates
Moving a full house
A family move from a four-bedroom house usually needs a large truck and a crew of two or more. Give the removalist a room-by-room list and mention outdoor items like trampolines, play equipment and sheds. Ask whether the price is hourly or fixed.
Moving out of a rental
With so many homes rented, end-of-lease moves are common. Book the bond clean for after the furniture is out, and keep the entry condition report to hand.
Interstate
For a move to or from another state, see interstate removals and our guide on moving to Townsville from interstate, which covers car registration and licence deadlines in Queensland.
